It should be submitted in point Times New Roman font, it should be double-spaced, and it should have one-inch margins. Once you have decided on an area of specialization, preferably by the end of first year Year 1, Term 2you will work to formulate a topic and find a supervisor.
The student is required to arrange their own Supervisor within the School. If revisions are required by the student, the Chair ensures that the External Ubc thesis submission forms, University Examiner, and Examining Committee sign off on this form right after the examination except for the supervisor.
The prospectus is read first by the Supervisory Committee and, if found satisfactory, by the Graduate Committee. Theses which do not meet the specified standards may be rejected. Late applications are not considered. Your program cannot be closed and you will not be eligible to graduate until the content and formatting of the thesis have been officially approved and you have received an official email confirming final approval of your thesis.
The type and amount of thesis supervision will be dictated by the topic, the needs of the individual student, and the preferred methods of the supervisor. If you are preparing for final submission, your thesis will be reviewed more quickly if you submit directly to cIRcle rather than emailing it for review.
The supervisor signs off on the form and hands the form into the College of Graduate Studies as part of final submission requirements. The purpose of this presentation is to provide the committee with the opportunity to raise questions and problems they may see with the proposed study before the students undertakes the actual research.

In the meantime, if you wish to submit multimedia or other supplementary materials, you must contact graduate. Supplementary materials Supplementary materials must be relevant to the thesis work and consist of electronic material or multimedia that cannot easily be included in the PDF of your thesis.
This proposal will be prepared under supervision of the Faculty Supervisor and in consultation with a second reader who comprise the Thesis Supervisory Committee. After the oral defense has been held and any requested revisions have been made, the candidate should submit one electronic copy of the final version of the thesis via iCircle to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, along with the final thesis forms: Handling of data and authorship should be discussed with the supervisor in accordance with UBC Policy 85 and Policy Describe the procedures used in collecting, organizing and analyzing the data.
Following the oral presentation, the Thesis Supervisory Committee shall have an opportunity to ask questions and make comments. The final thesis should be no more than 60 pages in length, excluding bibliography, endnotes, tables, figures, and other appendices.

The final form of the thesis must be prepared in accordance with the regulations set down by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and with the formal approval of all committee members.

Note: For performance students studying with a sessional or adjunct instructor, the “Examining Committee Member” listed on the form is that sessional or adjunct instructor.
At this time, also complete the MA Thesis Option form (available on the website MA Forms page). The MA Thesis Prospectus The MA Thesis prospectus offers a preliminary description of the proposed argument of the thesis and explains the relation of this argument to existing research on the topic.
All UBC graduate students are required to submit a copy of their thesis to UBC’s institutional repository, where it will be made available to the public. Submission into cIRcle requires that you sign a license that gives UBC the rights necessary to make the thesis available to the public.
